Sandra Martín-Peláez is a permanent Assistant Professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Granada (UGR, Spain).

She holds a degree in Biology and Food Science and Technology from the UGR, and a PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain.

Her main research area focuses on the interaction between the gut microbiota and dietary components in human and animal health, at the molecular, preclinical and clinical levels. Her research has been carried out in the United Kingdom (University of Reading), Spain (UGR, UAB, Hospital del Mar Medical Institute, University of Barcelona, ​​and Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona) and Greece (University of Thessaly).

She has participated in 15 research projects, one as principal investigator. She has published 39 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, 4 book chapters and 24 presentations at national and international conferences (Scopus: h-index 20, 1404 citations). Supervisor of one PhD, 8 MSc and 10 BA theses. Topic Editor of the journal Nutrients.
