Dr. Ioannis Karapanagiotidis is a Professor at the Aquaculture Laboratory (AWL) of the Department of Agriculture, Ichthyology and Aquatic Environment, University of Thessaly. He holds a degree in Agricultural Science and Animal Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with postgraduate (M.Sc.) and doctoral (Ph.D.) studies in aquaculture at the University of Stirling (UK) and postgraduate training in aquatic resources management at the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand). He was a recipient of the Hellenic Institute of Health Scholarship for postgraduate studies abroad, and was awarded by the European Commission for conducting doctoral research. His field of study is “Nutrition of Aquatic Animal Organisms” and he has been teaching courses such as “Fish Nutrition”, “Fish Feed Technology” and “Aquaculture” for many years. He has supervised and co-supervised a multitude of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral theses (120 in total). He teaches/has taught in 6 Postgraduate Programs of his Department and others in Greece.

He has been a Scientific Director and scientific collaborator in a total of 25 co-funded and European research programs and is also a member of the registers of evaluators in many of them. He is a reviewer and editorial board member in international scientific journals and conferences. Member of scientific associations (EZE, GEOTEEE, ETEPY, EAS). He has 61 publications in international SCI journals, 160 presentations in national & international conferences and 4 chapters in books, h-index: 21 (scopus), citations: 1485 (scopus).
